Theme: Sit or Read
Open Call is closed!
Next up: Selection in progress.
Local Design Circle is teaming up with Sit+Read Artbook Fair for a new PosterJam edition. Selected posters will be part of the fair's 8th edition in Timișoara, shown alongside the artist books, zines, prints, and independent publishing the fair brings together every year.
Sit+Read Artbook Fair started in 2017 as a multi-day gathering for artists, designers, zine makers, printmakers, independent publishers, and art book distributors — and the hundreds of visitors who come looking for them. Beyond the fair floor, its program runs talks, book launches, workshops, and off-site projects for both kids and adults. This year marks its 8th edition, and PosterJam is joining in again.
Sit or Read
At an artbook fair, the two things everyone ends up doing are sitting down and reading. It sounds almost too obvious to be a theme — that's the point. Pick one of the two words, Sit or Read, and build a poster around it: what it means to stop moving, or what it means to pay attention.
You can submit as many posters as you like, for either word or both — there's no cap on entries. Each individual poster just has to commit to one of the two, not both at once.
This edition's added constraint: black and white only.
Black — #000000
White — #FFFFFF
Grays between the two — tints, halftones, gradients — are allowed. Any actual color is not.
Open call opens: 28 September 2026
Submissions close: 14 October 2026 (23:59 Bucharest time)
Selected posters announced: 16 October 2026 (Estimated date, may change)
Exhibition period, Timișoara: 23 — 25 October 2026, Garnizoana

Please upload the print-ready file directly through the submission form. The file should be A6 size, 300 dpi, RGB, in .jpg or .pdf format, and under 10 MB. The uploaded file will be used by the jury for review and, if selected, for print.
The selection will be made by the PosterJam team, together with representatives of Sit+Read Artbook Fair.
The list of selected participants will be published on the PosterJam website.
Selected entrants will also be notified directly by email.
We won't be sending individual notices to entries that weren't selected.
Same as the general PosterJam rules: you keep ownership, we get the right to use and exhibit your work (and you're always credited) — with Artown Now included as a partner covered by that usage right for this edition's exhibition and related promotion.
Posters must be made specifically for this open call — no repurposed or previously submitted work. Selection is final and cannot be appealed.
